CLEO’S
COFFEEHOUSE WORLD

So what is the series about?

Cleo’s Coffehouse books are light amateur sleuth murder mysteries set in and around the Village Blend, a century-old landmark coffeehouse in New York’s picturesque Greenwich Village, a neighborhood layered with a colorful history, which is celebrated throughout the series. All of Cleo’s stories are character drive, and the Coffeehouse tales are no exception. Each is narrated by hard-working single mom Clare Cosi, who serves as the Village Blend’s dedicated manager and master roaster.

Clare is a single mom, in her forties, and though her daughter is grown, she often acts as a surrogate mother to the oddball collection of young baristas in her employ, all of whom are fiercely loyal to the shop, which is why they’re ready to pitch in whenever Clare starts her sleuthing. After all, this is New York City, where crime happens. And when it happens to anyone close to Clare, she’s deterimed to find justice and do anything it takes to keep her friends and loved ones safe.

For those of you who’ve never read a Coffeehouse Mystery before, you can pick up any one of Cleo’s Coffeehouse books and read it as a stand-alone.

Cleo always assumes new readers will be opening her books, no matter where they jump in, and she always provides enough background information so that first-time visitors to her fictional Village Blend won’t be lost. So, for those of you who’ve never read a Coffeehouse Mystery before, you can pick up any one of Cleo’s Coffeehouse books and read it as a stand-alone.

Cleo’s books are also culinary mysteries.

At the start of the Coffeehouse Mystery series, Clare’s daughter (Joy Allegro) begins her studies at a Manhattan culinary school and, as the series progresses, readers follow her (sometimes very rocky!) journey to becoming a professional chef. As a bonus for readers, each Coffeehouse title include recipes for foods and drinks mentioned in the book, and Cleo often creates free illustrated recipe guides to show readers how the recipes look upon completion.
